You have decided to embark on a Napa wine tasting adventure, party bus style! Allow us to help you navigate the Napa wine tour planning process by answering a few of the most frequently asked questions. We have helped thousands of groups plan and execute their perfect party bus wine tour through the greater Napa Valley area. From how many wineries you can visit in one day, to how many friends you can comfortably fit on one party bus, we have all the answers to get you rolling.
Q: From where does the wine tour depart?
A: The customer is in charge of selecting the best departure destination for the wine tour. Cali Party Bus services the greater Bay Area, and we will pick up your group at the pre-approved location of your choice within that area. Please keep the size of the party bus in mind; if your neighborhood is not commercial vehicle-friendly (i.e. steep hills, narrow streets, limited parking, etc.) then we recommend gathering your group at a nearby destination with easy bus access, such as a shopping center parking lot or a designated park and ride lot.
Q: What time should we leave?
A: The majority of wineries in the Napa Valley area open their doors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The most common departure time for groups is 10 a.m.; however, we recommend an earlier pickup time if you’d like to arrive at your first winery at 10 a.m. sharp. Another benefit of leaving early is the possibility of less traffic on the way to wine country.
Q: How long are wine tours? For how many hours do we need the party bus?
A: Based on our years of experience transporting groups to and from the Napa Valley area, on average you can visit 2 wineries during a 5-hour tour, and you can visit 3 wineries during a 6- or 7-hour tour. One of the main factors is traffic. During busy weekends, it can take between 1.5 and 2 hours to travel from St. Helena back to San Francisco. If you want to make sure you have enough time to visit at least 3 wineries without going into overtime, we recommend booking the bus for 7 hours.
Q: How many people can come on the wine tour?
A: Cali Party Bus offers a variety of luxury limo buses to fit groups of all sizes. Small groups will best fit in our Mercedes Sprinter Limo Van (1-14 passengers), while medium-size groups will love our Luxury Tiffany Limo Bus (20-28 passengers), and large groups will have a blast in our Executive Limo Bus (45-55 passengers). Learn more about our SF party bus fleet here. Keep in mind, for a long day of wine tasting, it’s a great idea to book a bus with a bathroom on-board.
Q: Can we drink alcohol on the bus?
A: Alcohol is allowed on-board, as long as all guests are at least 21-years-old with photo ID. Our luxury limo buses are equipped with wet bar areas to store your beverages and ice. We ask that you limit your on-board bar to beer, wine and champagne. We do not recommend hard liquor during wine tour events, as wineries can and do refuse entry to any guests who are overly intoxicated. In addition, excessive mess on board the bus can result in additional cleaning fees.
Q: Can we eat food on the bus?
A: Light snacks are allowed on-board during the wine tour. We recommend that you do not bring messy snacks or full meals on the party bus, as excessive mess can result in added fees. Many group-friendly wineries also offer fantastic restaurants. Please check out our Wine Tours page to see which wineries serve food, and consider making dining reservations in advance.
Q: How do I choose which wineries to visit?
A: There are hundreds upon hundreds of wineries to choose from in Napa, Sonoma, St. Helena, Geyserville and more Bay Area wine tasting destinations. In fact, there are so many options that it can be an intimidating decision for newcomers. Please visit our Wine Tours page for a list of recommended wineries that can accommodate groups. We have our suggestions, but ultimately, it’s your special day and the winery itinerary is completely up to you.
Q: Are the wine tastings included in the cost of the wine tour? Do you have any discounts?
A: Cali Party Bus offers luxury transportation service, and the price for your wine tour only includes transportation fees. You will purchase wine tasting tickets directly from the wineries. Pricing is different at each winery, and tastings are typically priced between $7-20 for 5-6 individual tastings. Depending on the winery, you may be able to negotiate a reduced rate for a large group with approval in advance.
Q: How can I get a price quote for my wine tour?
A: Cali Party Bus reservation specialists are standing by to provide you with a custom price quote for your party bus wine tour. Please submit a Quote Request here and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible.
Q: How do I reserve a party bus? Is there a deposit?
A: We require a credit card number in order to confirm reservation of your wine tour vehicle. There is no deposit, however we do place a $250 authorization hold on the card in case of cancellations or incidentals during the trip. This process is similar to providing a credit card when checking into a hotel.
What is an authorization hold? When merchants charge credit cards or debit cards there are two types of transactions, “authorizations” and “charges.” Authorizations hold funds available in an account in case they need to be captured later. These authorizations are valid for 30 days and often appear in the “pending” section of bank statements. “Charges” or “captures” are transactions that actually deduct funds from your account immediately. You will often see these transactions in the “posted” section of your bank statement.
Q: How can I pay for my wine tour?
A: On the day of your wine tour you will pay the total amount due directly to the driver via cash, cashier’s check or credit card. If you are paying with a credit card, please note that the physical card and ID must be presented to the driver for the customer’s and the company’s protection. In addition, there is a 3% processing fee added to all credit card transactions.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: If you cancel at least 14 days prior to your reservation there is no additional cancellation fee. If you cancel within 14 days of your trip there is a $250 cancellation fee. If you cancel within 7 days of your trip the cancellation fee is 50% of your booking amount. If you cancel within 72 hours of your trip there are no refunds for the full price of your party bus booking.
